Getting Stuff Done

Don't ya just love the weekends?  They are always so much fun.  I also always think I'm going to get so much more accomplished than I actually do.  Oops... :)

We all need some time to relax and unwind from the stressful week.  No matter what happened or what lies ahead, taking a few hours for yourself is something everyone needs to do.

Here are some tips on how to survive the week:

1. Make a To-Do List
I always find that making lists help me prioritze everything.  Everything that you need to do is written down in front of you and you can go through it quickly, making sure everything can be completed on time.

2. Set aside an hour (or a few) and get it done!
How often do you think you are going to get something done, but then end up distracted by another website?  Trust me, this is me all the time.  Try and set a certain amount of time to get that one thing accomplished.  It is probably much easier than you think once you set time aside to complete it.

3.  Easily Distracted?  Sometimes you need to block those websites
There have been many times when I could not focus on an essay I was supossed to be writing or my book I should have been reading.  Sometimes it is easier to just block the websites so they don't tempt you.  StayFocused is a great add-on that allows you to block certain websites for a set amount of time.

4. Change your location
Sometimes a change in scenery is all that it takes to get you focused.  Try switching it up from your normal spot.

5. Take (reasonable) breaks!
After awhile, it is hard to focus.  Try taking a break and get some food, walk around, or even go on one of those websites you can't resist (as long as it isn't too long).  Give yourself a few minutes to rejuvinate and then jump back in.  You'll have so much more time on your hands if you are able to finish something within a reasonable amount of time, instead of getting distracted every 5 minutes.  I know it is hard during the process, but you'll be so much happier afterwards.

The Name

I've been debating whether or not I want to continue this blog.  As you probably have noticed, my last post was in June.  However, I have decided that this is going to continue.

The name Collegiate Traveler does not necessarily refer to a travel blog.  Everyone is traveling in their lives.  Not always to different cities and countries like we would like, but we are all going down a certain path.  Sometimes this path might take us abroad, but many times it takes us out of our comfort zone.  This blog will be about my travels in life (including my recent trip to Europe! So stay tuned).

Here's a pretty standard one from London.

Until next time!
